01 / Challenge
Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority accepts soil that is often mixed with waste material, including rocks, organic matter and other contaminants. To maximise reuse and reduce landfill, this material needs to be screened into different sizes for reuse. Previously, the waste was stockpiled on site until a screening unit could be brought in, resulting in delays and reduced efficiency. This highlighted the need for an efficient, on-site screening solution.ook like in terms of text volume, layout and other related content.
02 / Solution
To improve material recovery, Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority introduced a Flipscreen into its operations. The unit is used to screen mixed waste soil, rocks and mulch onsite.
A key benefit of the Flipscreen is its ability to change screening meshes, allowing the team to process material to different sizes as required. The facility uses 1 inch, 50mm, 25mm, 10mm and 6mm meshes to produce multiple grades of reusable material from incoming mixed material.
03 / Result
The Flipscreen has improved Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority’s ability to recover and reuse material from mixed waste streams, significantly reducing the volume of material sent to landfill. Onsite screening has improved operational efficiency and enabled the facility to produce consistent, reusable products from incoming material, with screening now able to occur as material arrives rather than waiting for a screen to be brought on site.
The team is very happy with the performance of the Flipscreen and the value it adds to their resource recovery operations.
